We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join our NGS/Next Generation Sequencing team at Manchester Science Park.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry, or genetics, with hands-on experience in at least two molecular biology-based assays and techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, verify, and validate in vitro diagnostic products and services based on next-generation sequencing platforms.
- Perform general laboratory maintenance activities, including equipment usage, purchasing, and stock control tasks.
- Work closely with team members to maintain research operations, planning, execution, analysis, and documentation of experiments to the highest standard.
- Provide scientific expertise on development projects, ensuring experimental work is well-planned and executed to a high quality in a timely fashion.
- Contribute to the daily maintenance and running of the laboratory environments, ensuring a safe and efficient laboratory environment.
- Lead planning, execution, and reporting of defined project experiments and work-packages, ensuring quality and regulatory requirements are met.
Requirements:
- Degree or further degree (or equivalent) in a life science such as molecular biology, biochemistry, or genetics.
- Hands-on experience with at least two molecular biology-based assays and techniques.
- Enthusiasm, drive, thoroughness, diligence, and a willingness to take personal responsibility to ensure that projects are successful.
- Strong data analysis and interpretation skills.
- Flexible attitude to work.
- Demonstratable planning and problem-solving skills.
