Job Overview



This is a Locum Consultant Obstetrician position at North Middlesex University Hospital. The appointee will join the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and take a full part in delivering the undergraduate curriculum, both to trainees and medical students attached to the department.



Main Duties



The successful candidate will help in delivering the undergraduate curriculum, taking a full part in the work of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and joining the other 17 Consultants. They will also contribute to the provision of a wide range of gynaecological conditions of both general and specialist care. The services at North Middlesex University Hospital include pre-menstrual problems, Fertility, bladder dysfunction, UroGynae, specialist clinics for FGM women, Colposcopy, Menopause, Endometriosis, Recurrent Miscarriage, Fibroids and collaborative working with UCLH – Gynae-oncology.



Requirements



Applicants must have Full GMC registration, a Medical Degree – MBBS or equivalent, MRCOG or appropriate specialist qualification, CCT or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of AAC and ATSM in advanced labour ward.



Desirable Criteria




  • Higher degree MD, PhD
  • Evidence of training in risk management systems
  • Formal training in communication in difficult situations
  • Previous work in hospital with diverse ethnic population


Skills and Abilities



The ideal candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and patients and will be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.



Knowledge and Expertise



Applicants must have an understanding of clinical governance, including clinical risk management and audit, evidence-based medical practice and evidence of guideline practice.



Management and Organisation



The appointee will be required to have basic management skills, organisational skills and a basic understanding of financial regulations, as well as good record-keeping skills.
