Job Title: Experimental Quantum Physicist

Universal Quantum is seeking an experienced Experimental Quantum Physicist to join our team in developing and operating cutting-edge quantum computing hardware. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in experimental quantum technologies and experience in calibrating, characterising, and operating experiments for quantum technologies.

  • Develop and implement quantum control protocols for ion shuttling and quantum gates.
  • Perform calibration, optimisation, and characterisation procedures on quantum computing hardware.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop new concepts and technologies for future products.
Key Requirements
  1. Experience with laser cooling and trapping of ions.
  2. Experience operating and calibrating optical, RF, and microwave control hardware.
  3. Working knowledge of precision-timed control systems and signal processing.
  4. Experience implementing quantum gates, quantum algorithms, and/or quantum simulations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD with postdoctoral experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in calibrating, characterising, and operating experiments for quantum technologies.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with published results in the field of research.
