We're seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to join our team at Babcock. As a key member of our Appian development team, you'll play a crucial role in delivering technical solutions for our customers.
The RoleAs a Principal Software Engineer, you'll be responsible for leading the development of software solutions using Appian. You'll work closely with our Systems Development Manager to ensure that our software meets the highest quality standards.
Day-to-day, you'll be involved in requirements reviews, technical design, modelling, software development, unit testing, and deployment of new applications. You'll also be responsible for continual improvement to existing applications.
Main Responsibilities- To ensure software development is undertaken in accordance with IT quality, plan, and procedures.
- To undertake efficient software development using good design and implementation methodologies.
- To undertake unit testing to verify developed software performs in accordance with the supporting requirements.
- To attend workshops/reviews/stand-ups to discuss the development project, demonstrate progress to date, and communicate with project stakeholders.
- To build and maintain software releases and patches in accordance with agreed policies and procedures - providing out of hours support during for these software releases and patches when required.
This role is full-time, 35 hours per week, and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite a month.
Essential Experience- Significant experience working as a Software Engineer.
- Demonstrable knowledge of Software Development Life Cycles (SDLC).
- Knowledge of waterfall, iterative, and agile approaches to software delivery.
- Experience in Appian.
- A good knowledge of database design and working SQL is desirable.
