Job Opportunity: Music Coordinator with Teaching Responsibilities



The Ruskin Mill Trust is seeking a skilled Music Coordinator to join our team at Clervaux Garden School. As a Music Coordinator with Teaching Responsibilities, you will play a crucial role in delivering music sessions to students with learning disabilities and complex needs.



Key Responsibilities:


  • Plan and deliver music sessions to individuals or small groups of students according to their individual needs and learning requirements.
  • Encourage students with the right aptitude to prepare and perform pieces of music, whether solo or as a group, at festivals and school or Trust performances.
  • Be part of an ongoing assessment of students' learning needs and to make reasonable adjustments as required, minimising barriers to learning and achievement.
  • Work creatively with different musical styles and acoustic, unplugged instruments to meet the varied needs of our students.
  • Positively role model behaviours and attitudes.
  • Support students on their life journey by developing good rapport and giving appropriate challenges that build their self-confidence to participate in the cultural life of the community.
  • Work alongside and to support teachers and teaching assistants to deliver music in the classroom.
  • Prepare suitable music for seasonal festivals and performances, and supervise rehearsals with students and staff.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and therapists, including Speech and Language, Dance and Drama to coordinate cross-discipline learning sessions and experiences.
  • Lead CPD to develop staff confidence and skill in singing and teaching music fundamentals.
  • Maintain the instrument collection and the organisation of the music room.
