Senior Developer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Developer to lead the continued development of our AI integration in Edinburgh, Scotland.

The successful candidate will be joining a department that covers the end-to-end of development from design through to testing, deployment, and support. The team follows a scrum process with small, highly collaborative squads focused on delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in AI technology and explore ways to improve our products.
  • Gather requirements from subject matter experts and Product Owners to determine functional and non-functional requirements for new software and applications.
  • Collaborate with the senior engineering team to design and implement new capabilities within the product.
  • Conduct design reviews on existing code to identify areas for improvement in performance, security, robustness, and maintainability.
  • Ensure new software meets quality, security, and performance standards.
About the Product
  • The service-oriented microservice architecture allows for flexibility and scalability.
  • Services are written primarily in Java17 and Spring, with some services in NodeJS, Go, and Python.
  • The AI service uses external Large Language Models (LLMs) via AWS Bedrock.
  • The frontend is built with Typescript and React.
  • Data is stored in ElasticSearch, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL databases.
  • Build and deployment processes use Github Actions and Drone with SonarCloud.
  • The product is deployed to Kubernetes clusters running on AWS infrastructure.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience as a Senior Developer.
  • A passion for AI technologies and their potential to enhance client experiences.
  • Experience with prompt engineering and software design principles.
  • Strong knowledge of microservices architectures and delivering software solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and a desire to mentor other developers.
  • Familiarity with DevOps processes, Kubernetes, Git, Slack, and Jira is beneficial.
  • Experience with Linux environments is essential.

We offer a competitive salary of £80,000-£100,000 per annum, depending on experience.
