Phlebotomist Job Description

Centers Health Care is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from pediatric patients, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct thorough patient interviews to prepare them for blood draws.
  2. Follow strict safety protocols to minimize the risk of exposure to infectious blood and bodily fluids.
  3. Accurately identify patients using wristbands, documents, or visual identification.
  4. Assemble necessary supplies and equipment for specimen collection.
  5. Determine the most suitable venipuncture method for each patient.
  6. Reassure patients and help them relax during the blood draw process.
  7. Draw blood using proper equipment and techniques.
  8. Properly dispose of sharps, needles, and medical waste.
  9. Label test tubes correctly and send them for testing.
  10. Monitor patients for reactions and equipment operations.
  11. Educate patients on immediate aftercare.
  12. Maintain a clean and sanitary workspace.
  13. Ensure patient confidentiality and adhere to all relevant health and safety standards.
Requirements:
  1. High school degree or equivalent.
  2. Phlebotomy Technician certificate preferred.
  3. 5 years of proven experience as a Phlebotomist.
  4. Good interpersonal skills and communication.
  5. Able to work flexible hours, including nights, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  6. Strict adherence to safety regulations and operating instructions.
  7. Knowledge of aseptic and sterilization techniques.
  8. Valid State-issued driver's license with a good driving record.
  9. Adequate automobile insurance and a vehicle in good driving condition.
