Job Title: Building Surveyor

We are seeking a highly experienced Building Surveyor to join our Capital Programme Team within the Asset Management Service.

About the Role

The successful candidate will assist in the delivery of the condition survey programme across the educational and operational building portfolio within Lancashire. This will involve carrying out condition surveys within a set parameter and timescale, inputting information into a property asset management system, and working with the Capital Programme Officer to identify improvements in systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the delivery of condition surveys across Lancashire
  • Work independently with minimal supervision and plan and manage your own workload effectively
  • Use knowledge of building or engineering building pathology to identify specific defects and associated remedies and costs across a wide range of building stock
  • Consult with premises managers and central service managers and other professionals
  • Contribute towards identifying improvements in the way the service is delivered
  • Identify building fabric, mechanical, electrical, and health and safety priorities
  • Provide support in the preparation and monitoring of the Capital Condition Programmes
Requirements
  • Experienced Building Surveyor suitably qualified to degree status or equivalent
  • On Construction Domestic Energy Assessor (OCDEA) qualification
  • High level of experience and knowledge in building/mechanical/electrical pathology, identifying defects and remedies, building construction types, mechanical or electrical infrastructure, Health and Safety legislation, codes of practice, relevant legislation, and current standards
  • Experience of identifying and prioritising condition needs across a varied portfolio
  • Experience of undertaking detailed condition surveys from start to completion identifying defects and priorities
  • Ability to organise and manage time and prioritise work effectively whilst delivering a number of programmes, projects, and strategic objectives
Desirable Qualifications
  • Qualified MRICS
  • Chartered Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or other recognised Construction/Property profession or organisation
