Petersham Nurseries - Richmond is seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Car Park Attendant to join our team. As a Car Park Attendant, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and safe flow of traffic on Church Lane, while providing exceptional customer service to our visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Service
    • Be considerate of pedestrians and other users of Church Lane.
    • Address all customers with a greeting upon arrival and a farewell upon departure.
    • Offer help with directions or questions, and politely direct customers to reception if necessary.
    • Offer to carry boxes or bags for customers, and take trolleys back to the nursery for them.
  • Equipment
    • Clock in and out on each shift.
    • Carry a walkie-talkie at all times to communicate with other attendants and the manager.
    • Return walkie-talkies to the charging point in reception at the end of each shift.
    • Ensure all parking signs and equipment are returned to reception at the end of each day.
  • Operational
    • Use rubbish pickers, a broom, a rake, and a bucket to pick up debris from the lane.
    • Ensure the lane and borders are tidy and clean at all times.
    • Ensure the smooth flow of traffic on Church Lane, with a speed limit of 5mph.
    • Maximize parking space by ensuring cars are parked appropriately.
    • Communicate effectively with customers to ensure cars are parked well.
    • Be aware of customers leaving and entering the lane, and ensure cars do not reverse onto the main Petersham Road.
    • Ensure no cars are parked in the turning circle, and no delivery vehicles are parked for longer than 10 minutes.
    • Ensure no cars are parked outside the house gate, and no deliveries are made between 11:30am and 3:30pm.
    • Report any accidents or incidents to the manager, and keep a record.
    • Assist with the upkeep of the bin and recycling area.
    • Put bins and recycling out for collection on relevant days.
  • Personal Qualities
    • Adhere to company dress code, attendance, and time-keeping standards.
    • Represent Petersham Nurseries' high standards of personal presentation and behavior at all times.
    • Work as part of a team, sharing duties and demonstrating flexibility with regard to hours and days of work.
    • Maintain the standards and culture of the team by setting an example to new members of staff and assisting in their training when required.
  • Uniform
    • Look smart and tidy at all times.
    • Wear a Petersham t-shirt or sweatshirt with a Petersham fluorescent jacket when working in the dark.
    • Wear a Petersham cap to ensure you are easily identifiable.
  • Other
    • No texting or talking on mobile phones unless directly connected to work.
    • No caps or hats other than the one provided by Petersham, worn the right way around with the peak at the front.
    • Keep up to date with ongoing issues and developments within the company.
    • Observe the company's fire plan and health and safety policy.
