Job Title: Early Years Assistant - Deaf Support

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Early Years Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a profoundly deaf 3-year-old child at our Teddies Loughton Nursery.

About the Role

As an Early Years Assistant, you will work closely with the child, the nursery team, and other professionals to develop their communication skills in sign and spoken language.

You will also supervise the child during play activities to ensure their safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 support to the deaf child in developing their communication skills
  • Work closely with the nursery team and other professionals to ensure the child's needs are met
  • Supervise the child during play activities to ensure their safety and well-being
  • Communicate with parents daily on the child's activities and progress
Requirements
  • Signature Level 2 Qualification in British Sign Language
  • Signature Level 2 Certificate in Communication Support Work for Deaf Learners or equivalent
  • Previous experience working with children, preferably in a nursery setting
  • Passion for making learning fun and engaging for each child
  • Ability to build trust and strong working relationships with colleagues and parents
