Macroeconomic Analyst

We are seeking an experienced Macroeconomic Analyst to join our team in KPMG's Audit Centre of Excellence (ACE Technical).
As a Macroeconomic Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality macroeconomic analysis and technical expertise across various audit engagements.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of primary sources of global and UK macroeconomic data sources and data providers, with ample experience in data wrangling and cleaning datasets for time series estimation purposes.
You will be responsible for assessing and developing economic scenarios for IFRS9 purposes, stress testing regulatory exercises using macroeconomic and econometric models, and enhancing and developing in-house econometric models.
Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing, are essential, as you will need to clearly explain complex economic concepts to non-economist audiences.

Key Responsibilities
- Economic Scenario Development: Assess and develop economic scenarios for IFRS9 purposes and stress testing regulatory exercises using macroeconomic and econometric models.
- Econometric Model Development: Enhance and develop in-house econometric models with an understanding of accreditation of these tools for audit use.
- Thought Leadership: Produce thought leadership highlighting key trends and risks at sector and business level.
- Communication: Clear and effective communication about economic concepts and findings to non-economist audiences, verbally and in writing.
Requirements
- Education: An undergraduate degree in Economics, preferably with a master's degree in economics.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years of engagement within a macroeconomics team/unit at a professional services company, Central Bank, or Think Tank.
- Skills: Strong understanding of primary sources of global and UK macroeconomic data sources and data providers, ample experience in data wrangling and cleaning datasets for time series estimation purposes, experience using R and Python for the estimation of time series and structural models.
