Job Description:

EPC Recruitment Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client's team. As a key member of the design team, you will be responsible for leading the design and manufacture of special purpose industrial equipment across various sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out conceptual design work and lead design projects from tender stage to manufacture, installation, and commissioning of equipment.
  • Liaise with engineers, shop floor staff, and customers throughout the project.
  • Lead in the design and manufacture of special purpose industrial equipment.
  • Understand and adapt to the variety of sectors and projects within the company.
  • Manage Mechanical Design Engineers as required, providing guidance and leadership.
  • Ensure the Mechanical Design aspects of the Development plan are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Identify and address technical issues related to mechanical design, manufacturability, and costs throughout the development process.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of prototype components and materials.
  • Provide relevant input to the production of assembly instructions, service manuals, and operator manuals.

Requirements:

  • Variety of design experience is necessary.
  • Experience of a 3D CAD package such as SolidWorks / Inventor is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of MathCAD would be beneficial, as would a knowledge of Finite Element Analysis.
  • Knowledge of the industrial sector such as cranes, quarrying, mechanical handling would be preferable.
  • Proven experience in Mechanical design and product development, with a track record of contributing to the successful launch of new products to market.
  • A good understanding of Mechanical design, Industrial engineering.
  • Experience of working with a wide range of materials, tools, and technologies and be familiar with industry standards and regulations.
  • A good understanding of additive manufacturing and how to make the most of 3D printing capability and capacity.
  • Familiar with project management tools and methodologies and be able to manage your time when working on multiple projects.
