Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled data analyst to join Shell Trading's Freight Operations team. As a Vessel Performance Analyst, you will play a key role in delivering bottom-line value for the freight trading desks through data analysis and visualization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor real-time consumptions and emissions to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and enhance existing vessel optimization tools to monitor and visualize fleet performance and emissions data.
  • Design and implement data platforms and dashboards to provide traders and operators with fleet performance data.
  • Work closely with the Vessel Performance Manager to provide support and guidance to Freight Trading desks on best practices for running time charter fleets.
  • Collaborate with Freight Operations to support real-time interventions and identify opportunities to add commercial value.
  • Engage with external service providers on voyage optimization and analytics.
  • Provide commercial and contractual advice on interpretation of clauses and potential exposures for freight trading.
  • Identify areas where there are opportunities to add commercial value and areas where exposure to value leakage exists.
  • Determine and implement ideas from the Shipping Value team that can be applied to the Oil Time Chartered Fleet.
  • Assist the Vessel Performance Manager with data analysis and presentation for engagements with external parties.
  • Act as backup for managing vessel performance claims process and delivering bottom-line value for freight trading desks through recoveries of claims.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization skills with commonly available tools.
  • Ability to extract and analyze data from multiple sources using analytical tools.
  • Self-starter, motivated to learn and develop new skills as per evolving demands of the job.
  • Keen interest in data analytics and the key information indicated by the numbers.
  • Generic requirements:
    • General troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, able to cooperate with colleagues in a multinational and interdisciplinary environment.
    • Good communicator who can deliver technical messages in compelling ways to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Project and time management as well as organizational skills.
    • Good team player.
    • Oral and written fluency in English language.

Good-to-have/Added Advantage

  • Knowledge on technologies commonly used in the Shipping sector.
  • Experience in data analysis with programming tools/languages.
  • Basic understanding of ships and their day-to-day operations.
