Job Summary

Merje Ltd is seeking an experienced Head of Compliance to lead and play a crucial role in ensuring regulatory adherence and maintaining the highest standards of compliance. Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, you will play an integral role in ensuring the company meets its regulatory obligations while working with key stakeholders to help enable the firm to meet its commercial ambitions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of compliance policies and procedures to ensure regulatory adherence and minimize risk.
  • Lead and manage the compliance team to ensure effective implementation of compliance strategies and policies.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and compliance audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Provide expert advice on regulatory matters to senior management to ensure informed decision-making.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and manage relationships with key stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in a senior compliance role within a Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) environment, preferably in consumer lending.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks and legislation, including the FCA Handbook and relevant EU regulations.
  • Experience in an SMF16 role would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills to lead and motivate the compliance team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to effectively collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in implementing effective compliance programs and ensuring regulatory compliance.
