Commissioning Engineer - Electrical and Instrumentation Controls

Wood Digital Consulting is seeking a skilled Commissioning Engineer to support our UK projects. This hybrid role can be based anywhere in the UK, with mobility and travel expected for customer site visits and face-to-face meetings with colleagues.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical and instrumentation controls, with demonstrable experience in site commissioning. They will be responsible for ensuring efficient and safe execution of work, participating in safety walks, and attending toolbox meetings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Electrical and Instrumentation Controls background with site commissioning experience
  • Commitment to safety through engagement in Commissioning Permit to Work, Electrical Isolation, and Safety Work Manuals
  • Strong competency in reading design documentation, P&IDs, PFDs, mechanical datasheets, etc.
  • Ability to deliver documentation that is technically correct to the required standard and schedule
  • Understanding and control of work site running
  • Experience in industries such as Oil and Gas
  • Ability to determine pass/fail criteria on UPS testing (ITIC), generators, and Switchgear
  • Experience in Brownfield upgrades/replacement instrumentation and control projects
  • Experience with dealing with Switch Rooms, Switchboards, Distribution Boards, Lighting, UPS, Instruments, Cable runs, Control rooms, etc.
  • Compressor Station/Metering experience is advantageous
  • Working knowledge of substations and power systems/quality and their associated protection systems
  • Working knowledge of one or more of the following: Emerson, Siemans, Swinton, Omni, FlowX, EXI, Honeywell (DCS/Meter suite), PLCs Measurement Technologies, Metering Systems, Flow Computers, PLC & SCADA Systems/Software
  • Strong communication skills
  • Prior experience reviewing commissioning/construction works
  • Well-organized and keen eye for detail
  • Able to operate in an integrated team environment
