School Caretaker/Handyman Role

GSL Education is seeking an experienced School Caretaker/Handyman to support a school in Birmingham. This is a full-time, ongoing position with flexible hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the smooth running of the school premises, maintaining a safe and well-maintained environment for staff and students.
  • Carry out day-to-day maintenance, including cleaning, gardening, building maintenance, and support across the site.
  • Responsibilities include opening and closing the building, checking heating, lighting, and alarm systems, and moving furniture for meetings or assemblies.
  • Undertake routine maintenance of school buildings and grounds, including minor repair work, and grounds maintenance.
  • Assist with deep cleaning of classrooms and school pool/changing rooms, and oversee external contractors visiting the school site.
  • Ensure all Safeguarding Policies are adhered to and raise any concerns in line with school policy.

Requirements:

  • Hold a right to work within the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS Child and Adult Check – Must be on the update service.
  • 2x Educational References are a must in order to clear your file with GSL.
