Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Transport Planner to join our team at Metro. As a key member of our Transport team, you will play a critical role in supporting our internal departments and working closely with the Intermodal Manager to manage our transport booking requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport Planning
    • Allocate and manage haulage requirements on a daily basis
    • Act as a focal point for internal and external customers
    • Ensure all requirements are met or alternative options are offered
  • Transport Service Level & Cost Constraints
    • Ensure all haulage requirements are met by approved suppliers
    • Adapt and consider alternative requirements as needed
    • Balance cost and service requirements at all times
  • Haulage Product
    • Develop and sustain key flow requirements for key accounts
    • Monitor supplier KPIs and assist with management
    • Develop relationships with suppliers and focal points at shipping lines
    • Contribute to the development and enhancement of transportation systems
  • Experience
    • UK haulage operations, including FCL/LCL and warehousing
    • Intermodal and multiple ports operations
    • Strong geographic and container inventory knowledge
