Data Platform Operations Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Data Platform Operations Specialist to join our team at Advanced Resource Managers Ltd. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience supporting data applications or platforms at an L2 Level, with a strong background in data warehousing concepts and industry-standard tooling.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide level 2 production support for an enterprise data platform environment in a large organization.
  2. Manage, administer, and maintain data streaming tools such as Kafka/Confluent Kafka, Flink.
  3. Support software applications written in Python & SQL.
  4. Administer, configure, and maintain Snowflake & DBT.
  5. Experience with data product environments that use tools such as Kafka Connect, Synk, Confluent Schema Registry, Atlan, IBM MQ, Sonarcube, Apache Airflow, Apache Iceberg, Dynamo DB, Terraform, and GitHub.
  6. Debug issues, perform root cause analysis, and apply fixes.
  7. Manage and maintain ETL processes (bug fixing and batch job monitoring).
  8. Provide 'hands-on' technical support and escalation through Incident, Change & Problem Management procedures to ensure that SLAs are achieved.
  9. Implement, design, and manage releases and deployments.
  10. Proactively seek ways to improve day-to-day delivery.
  11. Work under pressure with challenging deadlines.

Requirements:

  1. Extensive experience applying data warehousing concepts (e.g. ETL/ELT, dimensional data modelling, slowly changing dimensions, data marts) on on-premises and cloud-based BI solutions in a commercial environment.
  2. Proven ability to clearly communicate complex solutions to non-technical audiences in support of technical solutions to business problems.
  3. Robust hands-on experience with industry-standard tooling and techniques, including SQL, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.

Training & Certification (desired, not mandatory):

  1. Snowflake Fundamentals/Advanced Training.
  2. Apache Kafka Administration.
