Job Summary

We are looking for a Production Leader to lead and manage a production shift at our Industrial Laundry site in Leicester. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the production process, supporting site improvement, and contributing to the company's business plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Excellence
    • Ensure compliance with safety rules and legislation, including training staff on plant and machinery.
    • Manage the production operation to produce quality products that meet customer requirements, are produced efficiently, and delivered on time.
    • Train, motivate, and coach the production team to achieve Operational Excellence and maintain Service Excellence.
    • Ensure site inductions and workwear are provided to staff and visitors.
    • Empower staff to take personal responsibility for responding to requests within agreed timescales.
  • Leadership
    • Provide supervision and direction to the production team to achieve Operational Excellence and maintain Service Excellence.
    • Coach, motivate, and support staff at all times, encouraging teamwork.
    • Contribute to feedback and debriefing sessions to identify operational issues and opportunities for improvement.
    • Communicate effectively with own and other departments and colleagues as appropriate.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Seek out opportunities to improve systems and procedures.
    • Ensure the continuous improvement of all functional activities through increasing effectiveness, efficiency, and added value.
    • Manage and control activities in accordance with the production plan.
    • Report statistics on an hourly basis to the line manager.
    • Immediately report any production issues that may affect delivery schedules.
    • Ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) targets are achieved.
    • Purchase new plant equipment in collaboration with the Production/Operations Manager.
    • Ensure an optimal number of staff are present on shift.

Requirements

  • Practical knowledge of LEAN Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships across all levels of management and staff.
  • Leadership and people management skills, including recruitment and induction.
  • Highly customer-focused.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent ability to execute the organisational plan.
  • Ability to make decisions.
  • Flexible and able to react quickly to customer and company needs.
  • Basic PC literacy.
  • Ability to deliver quality results under pressure.
