About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our Mental Health Support Team as a Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in mental health support in schools across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, and North Somerset.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be part of the Mental Health Schools Team (MHST) delivering high-quality, outcome-informed, evidence-based low-intensity cognitive behaviour (CBT) interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate anxiety, low mood, and behavioural difficulties.

As a Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner, you will work under supervision to develop your clinical competencies and knowledge in order to proficiently practice as an Education Mental Health Practitioner. You will learn key skills in assessment, low-intensity evidence-based interventions, and auditing and consultation within an educational setting.

The programme will also focus on adapting clinical practice to accommodate diversity and increase access to evidence-based psychological therapies. A strong emphasis is placed on personal and professional development.

Person Specification

We are looking for an individual with a strong understanding of why they want to become a CBT practitioner and a commitment to a busy year of combining study with practice. You will have 2 years of experience working with children and young people, preferably in educational, social care, or health provider settings.

You will also have excellent communication skills, be prepared to network with many agencies, and be passionate about participation and including children and young people and their families in aspects of our design and delivery.
