The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a high-quality, customer-focused mobile library service to local residents. This role requires excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
About the Role
Estimated Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
This exciting opportunity involves driving a 5.5-tonne mobile library van, visiting smaller villages within the authority. The ideal candidate will have a valid LGV Class C Licence and CPC card, as well as excellent customer care skills and a genuine enthusiasm for working with people of all ages and backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake daily vehicle checks to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Drive the mobile library van and maintain the service to the published schedule.
- Provide general safety for the public on and around the vehicle.
- Deliver front-line counter duties, including responding to customer enquiries and using book-based and online resources.
- Assist customers in making full use of the mobile library service.
- Contribute to and participate in activities and events for adults and children.
- Maintain stock levels and undertake shelving and administration tasks.
Requirements
- Excellent customer care skills and a genuine enthusiasm for working with people of all ages and backgrounds.
- Ability to deliver high levels of customer satisfaction by responding to individual needs in a timely and sensitive manner.
