About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our Finance Directorate as a Business Finance Support Officer. This is a permanent appointment that will suit an individual who enjoys a challenge, is interested in making a difference, and is keen to work with different teams within the schools.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate an ability to build and maintain strong communication links and strategic partnerships internally with academic staff and with central and School/Directorate administrative teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Working as part of a finance team to deliver a professional service to a portfolio of schools and/or directorates
  • Supporting continuous improvement across the operational business, promoting best practice, facilitating change, and ensuring that internal financial controls are robust
  • Liaising with budget holders to enable preparation of budgets and forecasts
  • Dealing with enquiries and coding queries from budget holders
  • Journal processing to ensure deadlines are met
  • Assisting with the year-end process
  • Balance Sheet reconciliations to ensure any anomalies are investigated
  • Monitoring new non-research projects and contracts and ensuring invoices are raised timeously and expenditure recorded accurately
Requirements
  • Ability to define priorities and work flexibly and effectively under pressure to meet demanding and sometimes conflicting deadlines
  • Relevant IT skills with experience of provision of management information
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Good team working skills
  • Ability to demonstrate the ability to analyse and interpret financial information
  • Adaptability and openness to change
