Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced Depot Manager to lead our clients' team at their Barnsley site, providing mobile crane hire and contract lifting services. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the daily running of the depot, ensuring that KPI targets are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead a team of mobile crane operators, slingers, lift supervisors, appointed person, fitter, and assistant manager.
  2. Provide first-line management of drivers and supervisors, managing performance and conduct of depot staff.
  3. Coordinate and plan manpower, resources, maintenance, and servicing of the fleet within the depot.
  4. Manage depot processes for documentation, sales/hires, and returns.
  5. Ensure all depot staff are trained correctly in accordance with current guidelines and Company Procedures.
  6. Work closely with the QSHET department to ensure Company Policies and Procedures are adhered to.
  7. Liaise with customers to ensure they receive a quality service, dealing with delivery issues and concerns quickly and efficiently.
  8. Ensure the depot/vehicles are maintained and cleaned to the standard expected by BCH, arranging/requesting repair as needed.
  9. Manage depot staffing levels, sickness, absence, and recruitment.
  10. Undertake other duties as reasonably required for the effective operation and function of the depot.
  11. Create daily/weekly/monthly management reports and KPIs, ensuring targets are achieved in line with strategic business needs.
  12. Liaise with other departments and managers to ensure efficient service is provided.
  13. Communicate issues affecting the performance of the depot to the Operations Director and Managing Director.
  14. Ensure Health & Safety compliance, including wearing PPE supplied, and promote Health & Safety awareness throughout the depot environment.
  15. Be aware of relevant Risk Assessments and Fire Assessments.
  16. Follow Company Standard Operating Procedures.
  17. Report operational management matters adversely affecting the protection of the company's fleet, deliveries, and customer base.
  18. Assist with other functions within the operation, including covering other Depot managers when absent.
  19. Ad hoc tasks as requested by management.

Requirements:

  1. Experience in distribution and logistics, preferably controlling a fleet of mobile cranes and vans.
  2. Proven managerial and leadership experience, preferably within the construction/transport sector.
  3. Excellent soft skills (Communication/Organization/etc.).
  4. Strong customer focus.
  5. Proven leadership, with a willingness to take ownership and responsibility.
