Job Summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled Public Involvement and Engagement Officer to join our team. As a key member of our research department, you will play a vital role in ensuring that patients and the public are at the heart of our research activities.

About the Role

We are looking for a creative and engaging individual who can build relationships across communities, organisations, and our partnership to connect people and support their co-production of research. You will be responsible for delivering patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) activities, developing resources, and supporting a culture of open, inclusive involvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver PPIE activities and develop resources to support public involvement in research
  • Build relationships with patients, public, and stakeholders to ensure their voices are heard
  • Support research teams in their PPIE activities and ensure that public involvement is integrated into the research cycle
  • Develop and maintain a network of public involvement contacts and stakeholders
Requirements
  • Experience of working in a public engagement or involvement role
  • Ability to work with diverse groups and individuals
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to identify and take opportunities to initiate or develop new relationships, activities, or resources supporting public involvement in research
