Kitchen Porter Assistant

About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Kitchen Porter to join our team at The Bodmin Jail Hotel & Attraction. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and efficiency of our kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, including washing, rinsing, and sanitizing utensils, dishes, pots, and pans.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including cleaning work surfaces, equipment, and floors regularly.
- Collect and dispose of kitchen waste, recycling, and garbage in a hygienic manner.
- Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies, ensuring proper labeling and storage practices.
- Support kitchen staff as needed with basic food preparation, such as peeling and chopping vegetables, and assisting in setting up and breaking down kitchen stations.
- Collaborate with chefs, cooks, and fellow kitchen staff to maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines, including food safety and sanitation standards.
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent may be preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean and orderly kitchen environment.
- Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and utensils is a plus.
- Prior experience in a similar role is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Willingness to learn and take direction from kitchen leadership.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Adherence to health and safety standards and procedures.
- A flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
