About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Welder Specialist to join our team at Babcock International Group. As a Welder Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting the Successor submarine project, manufacturing 22 tactical missile tube assemblies as part of the common missile compartment (CMC) project.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform welding and welding-related tasks in a production environment, adhering to standard operating procedures and safety protocols.
• Set up and operate welding equipment, ensuring proper functionality and maintenance.
• Conduct visual inspections of completed welds to ensure contract acceptance standards and project requirements are met.
• Maintain welding plant functionality and perform daily machine checks to prevent equipment failure.
• Continuously improve processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and productivity.
• Use digital and thermal temperature recording devices to monitor and control welding processes.
• Control and manage welding consumables and materials in production environments.

Requirements

• Indentured Welder certification or equivalent.
• Understanding of weld defects and causes, with experience in identifying and correcting defects.
• Ability to set up procedures for all welding equipment and accessories.
• Experience with pulsed MIG or MIG and TIG welding processes.

Security Clearance

This position is subject to national security vetting. The successful candidate will be a Sole UK National, who holds, or is able to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements (this will include obtaining SC security clearance and satisfying ITAR and PSA).
