The Role

As a Yard Operative at Lawsons Whetstone, you will play a crucial role in delivering a fantastic customer experience. You will be the first and last point of contact for customers visiting our branch, and your excellent customer service skills will make a significant impact on our customers' satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service in the yard, ensuring accurate picking and packing, excellent product knowledge, and demonstrating best practice in Health & Safety.
  • Stock Management: Ensure that stock is replenished, rotated, and merchandised to meet customer demands.
  • Packing and Loading: Safely and securely pack and load products on or into collecting vehicles, customer, or supplier.
  • Paperwork and Administration: Accurately complete all paperwork and administrative tasks.
  • Health & Safety: Maintain a safe and secure working environment, adhering to company policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Previous Experience: Previous experience working in a yard at a builders' merchant is essential.
  • Forklift License: A live and valid forklift license is essential for this role.
  • Training and Certifications: Up-to-date forklift training certificate and other relevant certifications.
  • Soft Skills: Positive attitude, approachable demeanor, good product knowledge, professionalism, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Good problem-solving skills, logical thinking, and good math skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain set company standards.
