As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing dedicated management support to our credit control team. Your primary objective will be to elevate the credit control department's profile within the business, making it a centre of excellence. You will achieve this by developing and implementing standardised policies and procedures for credit control matters.
Main Responsibilities- Lead and manage a team of experienced credit controllers, providing guidance and support to ensure they are equipped to excel in their roles.
- Oversee the entire credit control process, including credit assessment, credit limits, and terms negotiation, in collaboration with the Finance Director/Board.
- Develop and implement a continuous improvement process for credit policies and procedures, driving efficiency and effectiveness within the business.
- Manage credit insurance, update limits, and maintain records of late payers.
- Handle complex debt recovery cases, negotiate payment plans and settlements, and take appropriate legal actions when necessary.
- Negotiate early contract terminations and validate customer terms and conditions, working closely with Directors to offer variations.
- Manage the year-end exercise and serve as the escalation point for on-stop supplies for late-paying customers.
- Provide bad debt forecasting, assessing the collectability of at-risk accounts.
- Produce weekly cash collection forecasts and analyse accuracy rates.
- Proven people management experience, including remote working, coaching, mentoring, and running the annual appraisal process.
- Essential experience with ERP/general ledger systems and credit risk analysis.
- Experience with D&B, Experian, or similar credit report providers.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Credit & Collections processes, KPIs, and metrics.
- Strong working knowledge of Excel, including V-Lookups and pivot tables.
- CICM qualification desirable.
- Salary up to £45,000.
