Role Overview:

We are seeking an ambitious and experienced Senior Cost Consultant to join our Property team, delivering significant property schemes throughout North West England.

Our team is involved in delivering some of the region's largest and most exciting building projects in the residential, commercial office, and sports and leisure sectors, ranging from £20m to £1bn+ in value. We have a fantastic pipeline, and these projects will allow you to grow as an individual and provide you with the opportunity to work on the best projects and industry-leading clients in the region.

As a Senior Cost Consultant, you will work closely with an established and highly successful team, providing a lead role on several schemes and supporting Associates/Directors on larger projects. You will have great exposure to future development opportunities and work closely with Senior Partners and Directors of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Producing feasibility studies and presenting options directly to the client
  • Estimating and cost planning, including producing and presenting the final cost plan
  • Tendering and procuring construction works, including providing procurement advice to clients
  • Dealing effectively with post-contract cost variances and change control processes
  • Taking personal responsibility for making cost checks and carrying out valuations on larger projects, ensuring timely and accurate cost checking and valuation
  • Producing monthly post-contract cost reports and presenting them to the client
  • Inputting into value engineering
  • Negotiating and agreeing final accounts
  • Interfacing with the client and other consultants at all project stages
  • Strong knowledge of the JCT Contracts

Requirements:

  • Chartered professional with relevant skills and experience to actively support the internal team and manage resources on technically complex projects/programmes of works typically ranging between £10m and £100m+
  • Good previous residential, commercial, and mixed-use cost management experience
  • Good communication skills, including the ability to liaise with peers and senior colleagues and build and maintain relationships
  • Commercial acumen and organisational understanding
  • A logical approach and ability to think through complex issues to co-ordinate multi-faceted aspects of projects
  • Knowledge of the North West market, particularly Manchester/Greater Manchester
  • Knowledge of the East & West Midlands and Yorkshire & North East markets would be an added advantage
