Apprentice Quantity Surveyor

Our client, a leading British housebuilder and development company, is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their surveying department. As part of a surveying team, the successful candidate will be responsible for controlling all aspects of costs and monitoring commercial aspects of a development from pre-tender inquiries to subcontractor final accounts.
Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement- Assist the Chief QS in preparing subcontract enquiry lists for approval by the Head of Commercial and Head of Construction.
- Analyse tenders comparing individual tenders against each other and against build cost within land acquisition packs.
- Prepare tender authority sheets including recommendations for placing subcontract orders.
- Ensure Health and Safety Contractor Competency Questionnaires are issued to new contractors.
- Assemble Health and Safety Policies, Method Statements, and Risk Assessments.
- Compile subcontract orders, issue for contractors to sign, and ensure orders are returned prior to work commencing.
- Analyse and check sub-contractor weekly and monthly applications for payment.
- Prepare interim payments for approval by the Head of Commercial.
- Draft budget estimate summaries for approval by the Head of Commercial.
- Keep payment record sheets up to date following completion of each weekly and monthly payment run.
- Highlight claims for additional works outside budget estimate summaries and report to the Chief Quantity Surveyor.
- Settle all final accounts expediently after works complete.
- Produce valuation breakdown reconciliations.
- Carry out cost and value reconciliations on all items in valuation breakdown reconciliations and agree final reconciliations with the Head of Commercial/Chief Surveyor.
- Agree costs with the Accounts Department.
- Comply with company policies, procedures, and instructions at all times.
