Job Title: Journalist

Job Summary: We are seeking two experienced journalists to join our team in Bristol, working across digital and television output on a variable shift basis. The successful candidates will have a proven track record of finding and delivering original stories, and will be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Write stories to a high standard for digital and television output
  • Assist with the preparation and production of regional television and local radio bulletins and programmes
  • Deputise as News Organiser or digital News Editor, or report on-air for television
  • Develop and grow in the role, particularly if willing to go the extra mile

Requirements:

  • Clear understanding of the main priorities of BBC Local and a genuine passion to support the BBC West news team
  • Proven record of finding, researching and delivering engaging, impactful and original stories
  • Adept at using newsgathering, video editing, TV production and online writing software
  • Ability to self-shoot confidently and effectively using iPhones, MOJO kit or small cameras
  • Enthusiasm about regular shift working, including early morning, late evening and weekends
  • Strong and versatile team player, able to work solo for periods of time
