Job Title: Consultant in Emergency Medicine

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Emergency Medicine to join our team at George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust. As a key member of our clinical leadership team, you will be responsible for providing senior clinical, managerial, and teaching cover for the Emergency Medicine department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the consultant medical team to provide senior clinical, managerial, and teaching cover for the Emergency Medicine department.
  • Train, supervise, and take professional accountability for non-consultant medical staff in the Emergency Medicine department.
  • Develop referral protocols for medical and nursing staff within the directorate, promoting high-quality medical care and minimizing duplication.
  • Contribute to the efficient running of the service, working with local managers and professional colleagues.

Person Specification:

  • Candidates should be in possession of Completion or within six months of completion of a Specialist Training Programme in Emergency Medicine.
  • Broad clinical experience within Emergency Medicine is desirable.

Qualification(s) and Professional Training:

  • MBBS or equivalent.
  • FRCEM/FCEM/FRCS/MRCP/European Board.
  • Full GMC Registration.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Thorough and detailed knowledge of medical audit, medical education, current clinical and medical best practice.
  • Understanding of the Clinical Governance process.
  • Ability to lead, communicate, liaise, and negotiate with others.
  • Ability to manage and lead clinical teams.

Teaching and Education:

  • Ability to design and deliver talks/lectures/workshops effectively.

Audit / Research & Publications:

  • Undertaken complete audit cycle.
  • Ability to demonstrate recent evidence of relevant and continued research.

Personal Qualities:

  • Caring attitude to patients and good excellent inter-personal qualities.
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively.
