EIT Pathogena is a pioneering research and development facility that aims to revolutionize the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. Our mission is to develop Whole Genome Sequencing-based metagenomic and individual pathogen clinical tools, with the ultimate goal of creating an 'always-on global pathogen metagenomics system' that can identify Pathogen X and provide early warning of disease epidemics.
The RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of a platform for genomic analysis. As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for building and deploying scalable data pipelines and infrastructure to support our mission. You will work closely with our team of experts, including Research Software Engineers from Oxford University, to design and implement solutions that can scale to meet the demands of our global program.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement scalable data pipelines for genomic analysis
- Contribute to architectural discussions and ensure the scalability and quality of our processes
- Help maintain the cloud deployment of our platform and contribute to the selection of the best technology for future development
We are looking for a motivated and proactive engineer who is passionate about using technology to improve global health. You will be someone who can work collaboratively, act with honesty, integrity, and good judgment, and is committed to building a healthy engineering culture. While specific qualifications are not required, we are looking for candidates with experience in developing data pipelines and deploying them into cloud environments, performance tuning of platforms and pipelines, and workflow tools such as Nextflow, Argo, and Prefect.
