Maintenance Operations Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Operations Specialist to join our production team at Reed Engineering. This critical role is responsible for ensuring seamless production operations 24 hours a day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert technical support to operators during shift hours, addressing process equipment issues promptly and efficiently.
- Collaborate with production shift team leaders to resolve daily engineering needs, ensuring issues are resolved quickly and effectively.
- Conduct regular planned preventative maintenance activities, utilizing the site's computer engineering maintenance management system to optimize production run time.
- Perform unplanned maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime and ensure optimal production efficiency.
- Engage in fault finding to identify root causes, not just symptoms, and implement solutions to prevent future issues.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment, ensuring smooth integration and minimal disruption to production.
- Identify and implement improvements to equipment and processes, driving continuous improvement and efficiency gains.
- Build strong relationships with departments across the organization, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
- Provide training and mentoring to production operatives and apprentices, developing their skills and knowledge to support the team's success.
Requirements:
- Formal apprenticeship or equivalent qualifications in electrical, mechanical, and/or maintenance engineering.
- Experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of equipment and processes.
- 18th Edition qualification or competence with single-phase supplies and equipment is desirable.
- Familiarity with three-phase systems, motor starters, control panels, and motors, as well as experience with variable speed drives.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, bearings, and drive transmission systems.
- Proficiency in disassembling and assembling machinery and equipment components, with the ability to resolve complex technical problems quickly.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Computer literacy, competent with Microsoft Word and Excel, and experience with computer maintenance management systems (Pirana preferred).
