About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Housing Advocate to join our team at Advance Charity. As a Housing Advocate, you will play a critical role in providing intervention, advocacy, and support to survivors of domestic abuse.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive assessments of needs and risk for survivors experiencing domestic abuse, including conducting short risk management and safety planning.
  • Assess the needs and safety of any children that women using the service may have.
  • Work closely with survivors to develop and implement personalized support plans, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Collaborate with local authorities, housing associations, and other agencies to ensure survivors have access to necessary resources and support.
  • Conduct home visits and provide support to survivors in their own homes, as needed.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of experience working with survivors of domestic abuse, preferably in a housing or advocacy role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with survivors.
  • Strong understanding of domestic abuse, its impact on survivors, and the importance of a trauma-informed approach.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of professionalism and discretion.
  • Good IT skills, including proficiency in data collection and monitoring software.
