We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Planning Solicitor to join our Planning and Highways team at Kirklees Council. As a key advisor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our region, providing expert guidance on planning, highways, and environmental law.

• Provide strategic advice to officers and elected members on complex planning and highways matters.
• Lead on high-profile projects, including s106 and 278 agreements, public enquiries, and planning enforcement.
• Supervise junior colleagues and contribute to the development of the team.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to drive forward innovative solutions and projects.

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives with experience in planning law.
• Strong understanding of planning, highways, and environmental law, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a fast-paced local government environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to working hours.
