Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior HSE Officer to join our team at Rock People, a leading talent acquisition specialist in the mining industry. As a Senior HSE Officer, you will play a critical role in developing, implementing, and continuously improving health and safety programs that support our Underground Operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Health and Safety Leadership: Promote activities designed to maintain and improve health and safety throughout the operation, ensuring compliance with state and company standards.
  • Risk Management: Lead the development and implementation of health and safety objectives, processes, programs, and initiatives across the sites, identifying and mitigating risks to prevent injuries and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Serve as the company health & safety liaison with local, state, and strategic partners, ensuring health, safety, and security programs are developed, communicated, implemented, and reviewed.
  • Performance Improvement: Coordinate with site teams to continually improve health safety, and security performance through the identification of risks and opportunities, managing, reviewing, and assessing health & safety data as a tool for continuous improvement.
  • Emergency Response: Ensure adequate Emergency Response requirements are met, coordinating the Critical Risk Management program, development and implementation of crisis and emergency management planning, coordination, and incident response.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Generate weekly and monthly and yearly reports, participating in detailed incident investigations and root cause analysis.
Requirements
  • Education: Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or Applied Sciences.
  • Experience: Relevant safety technical, managerial, and financial knowledge, with mining industry experience in hard rock underground mining.
  • Certifications: Occupational health and safety instructor (underground), experienced in developing and conducting health & safety training.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Applied knowledge of relevant OSHA, MSHA, state and other regulatory requirements, as well as industry standards and practices.
