Civil Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our team at Hays Specialist Recruitment. As a Civil Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and delivering innovative engineering solutions across various sectors, including Built Environment, Infrastructure, Public Health, Marine, and Renewable Energy.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Designing marine structures, bridges, and associated infrastructure for ports, harbours, canal, and river engineering projects, and coastal protection works.
  • Preparing project specifications, conducting feasibility studies, and producing inspection reports.
  • Supervising technicians, attending design team meetings, and providing input on health and safety plans.
Requirements:
  • A Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with at least 2 or more years' experience in marine or heavy design experience in any of the following fields: Civil or Structural Engineering, Heavy Civil, Marine/Harbour or Bridges.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office, familiarity with European and British Standards and Codes of Practice, and awareness of recent developments in engineering research and design.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong analytical and numerical skills, and ability to manage projects and prioritise tasks.
  • Ability to work in a team environment or independently, with strong negotiating and interpersonal skills.
