Solicitor (Planning, Highways and Licensing) Job Opportunity

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Solicitor to join our team in a Planning, Highways and Licensing role. The successful candidate will provide professional advice and guidance on Planning, Highways and Licensing law to colleagues, managers, and partner agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the efficient and cost-effective delivery of legal services within a customer-focused culture.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance on Planning, Highways and Licensing law.
  • Lead by example in modelling and embedding the council's values and behaviours.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders to build a sustainable and effective organisation.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of CILEX entitled to practice in England and Wales.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise own workload and work on own initiative.
  • Broad knowledge of Local Government law or equivalent knowledge.
  • Experience and knowledge of planning and highways legislation.
  • Ability to effectively communicate legal issues to Members and officers.

About the Role:

This is a contract role with the opportunity to extend. The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with one day onsite. We offer a hybrid working arrangement, allowing for flexibility and work-life balance.
