Job Title: Physical Education Support Assistant

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Physical Education Support Assistant to join our client schools in Wakefield, South Yorkshire.

About the Role:

As a Physical Education Support Assistant, you will work alongside PE teachers to assist in delivering engaging and inclusive PE lessons. Your role will involve supporting students of varying abilities, promoting teamwork and resilience, and encouraging an active and healthy lifestyle.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of PE lessons, ensuring they cater to the diverse needs of students.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support for students, encouraging full participation in physical activities.
  • Support teachers in organising sports events, games, and activities that promote teamwork and physical fitness.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students during physical activities by supervising and supporting them.
  • Help maintain and set up sports equipment and facilities for lessons.
  • Promote a positive attitude towards physical health and well-being, encouraging students to adopt healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Work with students who may have additional needs, ensuring they can fully engage in PE lessons.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children or young people in a sports or educational setting.
  • A passion for sports and physical education, with a commitment to promoting an active and healthy lifestyle.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and enthusiasm in supporting students of all abilities.
  • Ability to support and motivate students, helping them develop physical skills and confidence.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in working within a school environment.
  • A valid DBS registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for one.
