About the Role

Croda International Plc is seeking a highly skilled Process Safety Engineer to join our team at our manufacturing site in Widnes. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of our processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical process safety expertise to support the promotion of and engagement in process and workplace safety, health, and environment (SHE) initiatives.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to maintain safe and reliable operations and facilitate the delivery of site objectives.
  • Apply process safety knowledge and leadership skills to identify and mitigate risks, and develop and implement safety procedures and protocols.
  • Work closely with the Lead Process Engineer to provide guidance and support on process safety matters.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of relevant engineering codes and standards, and apply them in a practical manner.
Requirements
  • Chemical or Process Engineering degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Process Engineering or Process Safety.
  • Strong understanding of process safety principles and experience in undertaking and participating in safety studies (PSSR, Pressure Relief, Risk Assessments, Hazard Studies, LoPA, ALARP Demonstration, PUWER, DSEAR, etc.).
  • Able to provide monthly and quarterly updates on process safety key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Experience in Management of Change systems and procedures.
  • High degree of analytical and numeracy skills.
  • Proficient in report writing, producing documentation, and developing procedures and training.
  • Experience in supporting production/manufacturing operations.
  • Experience in working within multi-discipline teams.
  • Able to troubleshoot, problem solve, analyze data, and suggest improvements.
  • Able to specify process equipment and produce datasheets.
  • Able to undertake project scoping, PFD/P&ID development, and design documentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to work and communicate with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Relevant Master's degree or equivalent.
  • Human Factors.
  • Project management and planning skills/experience.
  • NEBOSH (General).
  • CAD.
  • SAP.
