We're on a mission to deliver exceptional customer experiences, and we need your expertise to make it happen. As an Operations Engineering Director in our Mission Control organization, you'll be instrumental in providing enterprise services that ensure high levels of product availability for our customers and partners.

This role is critical in the delivery of all Mission Control functions to service the full stack of Amex enterprise solutions. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Leading a team of engineers to resolve issues efficiently and minimize escalations.
  • Managing legacy Emergency Major Incident Management (EMIM) teams during departmental transformation efforts.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with Amex Business and Technology partners.
  • Evolving Mission Control capabilities through automation and self-healing opportunities.
  • Implementing self-healing and automation solutions for efficient delivery of Mission Control services.
  • Partnering with Mission Control technology onboarding to acquire knowledge and ensure knowledge transfer.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in computer science, computer science engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of successful engineering and deployment of enterprise-grade technology assets in sophisticated product environments.
  • Prior relevant Technology and business/industry work experience, including architecture design and deployment, systems life cycle management, and infrastructure planning and operations.
  • Leadership experience in leading multiple, large, multi-functional teams or projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain and develop strong working relationships and ongoing partnerships.
  • Hands-on coding experience with different technology products or programming languages.
  • Ability to setup and configure observability solutions and monitoring tools.
  • Solid understanding of ITIL principles.

Preferred Qualifications

We welcome candidates with experience in:

  • In-depth knowledge of the Amex technology stack.
  • Developing roadmaps and staffing forecasts.
  • Leading knowledge transfer, training, and job shadowing activities.
  • DevOps knowledge for highly available IT infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated success with automation development.
  • Familiarity with Agile or other rapid application development methods.

Salary Range: $180,000 - $250,000 per year
