Job Summary: Philanthropy Director

Location: Glasgow and occasional travel to other locations across Scotland

Salary: £70,000 - £90,000 per annum

Scottish Opera is seeking an experienced fundraising professional to lead our philanthropic efforts and secure sustainable income for the organisation.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of fundraising professionals to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to generate sustainable income across all fundraising areas, including Individual Giving, Major Gifts, Legacies, Corporate Partnerships and Trusts and Foundations.

You will also be responsible for developing and managing relationships with corporate partners and trusts to secure funding and sponsorships.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy
  • Leading a team of fundraising professionals
  • Managing relationships with corporate partners and trusts

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Significant experience in fundraising, particularly in securing major gifts and cultivating long-term relationships with high-net-worth individuals
  • A proven record of successfully leading and managing a fundraising team, with at least three years of experience in a senior role
  • Strong knowledge of best practices in major donor prospect research, cultivation, and stewardship
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write persuasive and compelling proposals and reports
