Job Description

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Senior Ecologist to join our team in Gloucester, working on diverse projects from local conservation to large-scale infrastructure developments in the South West.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead ecological assessments, habitat surveys, and impact studies for various projects.
  • Conduct and oversee field surveys, including protected species surveys, habitat assessments, and ecological monitoring.
  • Prepare detailed ecological reports, impact assessments, and mitigation strategies.
  • Client Liaison: Build and maintain relationships with clients, providing expert advice and guidance on ecological issues.
  • Assist and support junior ecologists with the option to mentor.
  • Ensure projects comply with relevant legislation, planning policies, and environmental standards.

Requirements:

  • Experience in an ecological consultancy or related field.
  • A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or related discipline. A master's degree or PhD is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in ecological survey techniques, data analysis, and report writing. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A strong understanding of UK wildlife legislation, planning regulations, and best practices in ecological management.

What We Offer: An estimated salary of £45,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits.
