Teaching Assistant Opportunity in SEMH Primary PRU

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to join our team in a specialist primary setting in Leyland. As a Teaching Assistant in this pupil referral unit (PRU), you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to Key Stage 2 pupils with social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH) and other associated learning difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 support to Key Stage 2 pupils with SEMH and other associated learning difficulties
  • Assist with classroom activities and tasks
  • Foster a nurturing and encouraging learning environment
  • Monitor and track the progress of students
  • Collaborate with teachers and specialists to create effective learning plans
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being
  • Forge and develop relationships with pupils
Requirements:
  • A passion for working with children with social, emotional and mental health difficulties and a desire to contribute to their development
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Relevant experience in a special educational needs or care setting supporting children with additional needs is desirable
  • Level 2, 3 or 4 teaching assistant qualifications or relevant degree honours are highly advantageous
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to:

  • Be subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure - or hold a DBS currently subscribed to DBS Update Service
  • Provide overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and undergo professional reference checks
  • Ensure your CV covers all employment and education since leaving secondary school
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK
