Job Title: Assistant Accountant
Location: Peterhead
Hours: Monday to Friday (9:00am - 5:00pm)
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Accountant to join our dynamic accounts team based in Peterhead. This full-time position offers the chance to work within a supportive environment where you'll play a key role in supporting the financial team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Process invoices, payments, and expenses
- Reconcile bank statements and accounts
- Assist with the preparation of financial reports, budgets, and forecasts
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
- Support payroll processing and ensure compliance with HMRC regulations
- Monitor and manage accounts payable and receivable
- Assist with VAT returns and other tax-related tasks
- Liaise with external auditors and support audit processes
- Provide support to the senior accountant as required
Requirements:
- HND in Accounting or equivalent qualification
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar accounting role
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Exceptional Microsoft Excel skills
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Xero)
- Strong understanding of financial regulations and accounting principles
- Ability to work effectively within a team and independently
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong work ethic with the ability to meet deadlines
