Research Associate in Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to join our team in the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics at the University of Cambridge. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Prof. Richard Nickl on the ERC-funded project `Statistical aspects of non-linear inverse problems', which focuses on mathematical and foundational challenges in contemporary data science and the theory of statistical algorithms.

The Research Associate will be responsible for undertaking their own programme of research and assisting with ongoing research programmes, using databases, modelling, computation as appropriate. They will also be expected to write up results for publication and present their work to colleagues at conferences or steering groups, both internally and externally.

The ideal candidate will have completed (or nearly completed) a Ph.D. degree in mathematics and have relevant background knowledge in mathematical statistics and probability theory. Further knowledge of modern techniques in analysis and partial differential equations (PDEs) will be an advantage.
