Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom LM RECRUITMENT SOLUTIONS LTD Full time

We are seeking experienced candidates with a strong background in technical research and software engineering to join our Operational Research Engineering team. Our team is highly experienced and passionate about delivering quality solutions that combine rapid prototyping with proven software engineering practices.

Our Mission

We use a range of programming languages and emerging technologies to develop prototypes and world-class research that has a significant impact on real-world security challenges. We work in a fast-paced, collaborative, and Agile environment, which leads to innovative and novel solutions.

You will be part of a small team delivering products you can take pride in. While we value well-rounded individuals, it's not uncommon for members to have a specific niche, such as RF Engineering or AI. These niches drive our projects from requirements capture to product design and delivery, allowing consultants to align their work with their personal interests and skillsets.

As a member of our team, you will design and produce niche solutions with immediate real-world impact, ranging from embedded devices to vehicle-based systems. You will leverage your skills and experience to propose new ways of combating emerging Cyber threats. You will continuously develop new skills, reviewing and critiquing the work of your colleagues to ensure our products have a profoundly positive impact.

The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in small teams to design or extend existing software capabilities. You will have several years of experience writing software solutions across various domains, with extensive familiarity in C, C++, and Python. You will be proficient in Agile development in a small team, enforcing best practices for resilient software deliverables.

You will thrive on solving complex problems with pressing time-constraints and uncertain outcomes, aiming to achieve something new. You will take an interest in how a system, product, or technology works and have the ability to dive deeper to find out more. You will enjoy sharing your knowledge with team members and customers alike. You will be self-sufficient in managing your time, even when working on multiple projects simultaneously.

This vacancy is intended for experienced consultants who can demonstrate several years of relevant experience. As grades progress, we are looking for increased expertise, as well as the ability to lead technical projects and recommend new areas for research.

We offer a competitive salary range of £65,000 - £95,000 per annum, depending on experience, 25 days' holiday per year, level up with an extra day of holiday per year, financial support to cover HMRC allowable costs of relocating, training and development opportunities, O'Reilly books subscription, regular events, free seasonal fruit, tea, coffee, milk, squash, and hot chocolate.

We also provide private medical including access to a private online GP, physiotherapists, osteopaths, or chiropractors for muscle, bone, and joint pain, mental health - counselling, and specialist consultations and treatment with psychologists and cognitive behavioural therapists. Annual Health assessment is also included. We have a profit share scheme, 8% company contribution to pension, death in service cover of 4x base salary, enhanced maternity/paternity/adoption leave, enhanced cycle-to-work scheme including the ability to purchase a bike over £1,000.

We are recruiting staff at all levels in this team, and we are able to support market-leading salaries for every grade within our sector/location. We reward staff based on technical excellence and not years of experience, so it's essential to discuss your qualifications with us to determine the most suitable grade.

We are based in the centre of Cheltenham in a stunning new build contemporary office, 5 minutes walk from local shops and cafes. Our interview process is quick and to the point: if you seem like a good fit for the role, we'll schedule a brief call to discuss it in more detail and answer any questions you may have. If that goes well, we'll arrange a technical interview to understand your level of experience.
