We are seeking a dedicated SEN Specialist to join our team at GSL Education. As a SEN Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support and interventions to students with special educational needs (SEN) to ensure they receive the appropriate assistance to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify students' specific learning needs and areas of development.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to create and implement personalized learning plans and interventions.
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, both in the classroom and in dedicated SEN provision areas.
- Monitor students' progress and adjust support strategies as needed to ensure ongoing improvement.
- Liaise with parents/carers to communicate progress, provide support, and address any concerns or questions.
- Support the school's SENCO in maintaining accurate records, attending review meetings, and ensuring compliance with SEN legislation and guidelines.
- Contribute to the development of a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that celebrates diversity and promotes positive outcomes for all students.
- Experience in managing behavioral challenges and implementing behavior management strategies.
- Understanding of social and emotional needs of children with SEN, and ability to provide appropriate support.
- Experience working with non-verbal children and proficiency in alternative communication methods.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognized teaching qualification.
- Specialization or additional training in SEN, such as a SENCO qualification or relevant postgraduate certificate.
- Strong understanding of SEN legislation, policies, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to ongoing professional development in the field of SEN.
