Job Description
We are seeking a highly qualified Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering to join our faculty team at Widener University's School of Engineering. The successful candidate will contribute to our commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service while actively participating in the collaborative and engaging environment of our university.
Main Responsibilities
The Assistant Professor will be responsible for:
- Delivering high-quality instruction in undergraduate and graduate courses, with a focus on thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and fundamental engineering courses.
- Conducting impactful scholarly research in the field of Mechanical Engineering and publishing papers in reputable journals and conferences.
- Fostering a dynamic and inclusive learning environment that promotes critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Actively seeking external funding to support research initiatives and collaborate with colleagues within the department and across disciplines.
- Engaging in departmental, school, and university service activities, including committee work, student advising, and other responsibilities.
Required Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have:
- A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Prior teaching experience in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and fundamental engineering courses.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct impactful research, with a record of scholarly publications in reputable journals and conferences.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative academic environment.
